Description
New Park Lodge is a lodge built in the early 19th century, which underwent alterations in the late 20th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a rustic tree trunk verandah and a thatched roof with a brick chimney. The building has a cottage orne style and a lozenge-shaped plan, with 1½ storeys. There are 20th-century additions under the verandah on one side and extending beyond it at the far end. The lodge is positioned end onto the drive, with its side facing the main road, which is obscured by a hedge. The end facing the drive has a half-glazed door, and there are pointed 2-light diamond-pane casements on either side, which were replaced in the 20th century. Similar casements are found on the sides under the verandah that wraps around the building. The hipped roof features hipped dormers with similar casements and a central chimney. A 20th-century addition is concealed under the verandah on the side against the hedge and extends beyond the far end. The lodge has historical connections with the Irishman Cahill and the Agrarian Riots.
