Description
Hollin Hall is a house that has been divided into two sections. It features a 14th-century Pele Tower at the east, which is attached to a central block built in the 16th or early 17th century, and a west wing added in the late 17th or early 18th century. The building has undergone later alterations and is constructed with rubble and roughcast rendered walls, slate drips, and a graduated greenslate roof. It has four large old chimney stacks, including one from the 19th century with paired round shafts. The tower to the east has a crowstepped gable.
The entrance includes an eight-panelled studded door beneath a 20th-century porch. There are six windows on the ground floor and six above, all of which are 20th-century replacements. The tower features a vaulted ceiling on the ground floor, with a door opening that has a pointed arched head and a pointed arch window above. Inside, there are fragments of 17th-century panelling, notable 18th-century panelling, and a staircase with turned balusters. There is also a spiral stair made of solid oak timbers and an 18th-century fireplace with a fluted keystone.
