Description
High Beckside is a 17th-century building constructed from stone and slate rubble, featuring a flag roof with stepped flags on the gable ends and two square squat chimneys. It has two low storeys. The rear side, which faces Thorn House, includes one small window on each floor to the left, a central catslide roof over a scullery, and a lower catslide roof to the right that is open below and forms a porch. Stone steps beneath the roof lead to an old studded door, although the spinning gallery has been removed. The front side facing the beck has two doors, four windows on the ground floor, and three above, all of which are modern casements. The interior is reported to contain a spice cupboard dated 1707. For group value context, refer to the general group description under Low Hartsop.
