Description

The corn drying kiln located in the field at the rear of How Green Farmhouse is a small stone rubble building dating from the 16th or early 17th century. It features a very heavy and thick flag roof, with even heavier flags on the gable ends. The kiln has a large wooden lintel above a square boarded door on the upper (east) end. Due to its position on a steep hillside, the interior has two storeys, with doors at each end on the ground level. The small door at the west end has a stone lintel, along with a crude dripstone and a slit light above it. In front of the west end, there is a small square yard enclosed by stone rubble walls that are 5 feet high and 2 feet 6 inches thick, measuring about 10 feet by 5 feet.
