Description

Buttments Farmhouse Cottage, attached to Buttments Farmhouse, dates from 1692, as indicated by a plaster tablet on the front featuring the initials T and M B. The cottage is built of stone rubble and stands two storeys high on a raised base. It has a slate roof with a large round chimney at the west end, which partly projects on brackets. There are two small-paned windows on the ground floor and three above, all set in original openings. To the left, there is a lean-to wing with a porch, and to the right, a lower cross wing also made of stone rubble. For further context, refer to the group description under Troutbeck Village.
