Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a 17th-century house located in Troutbeck Village. It is constructed of thick, whitewashed stone rubble with an old slate roof. The south front features two half-dormers, and two modern windows and a front door on the ground floor. A large, squat chimney is situated on the left-hand end, supported by brackets. The rear of the cottage has a gallery over the doorway, incorporating new timbers that likely replaced an original spine gallery. A rear wing extends at right angles, containing a rear door, a gallery, and a barn located at an upper level, utilising the rising ground. For further context relating to the surrounding buildings, please refer to the general group description for Troutbeck village.
