Description
Wythburn Church is a parish church built in 1640 on the site of an earlier chapel, with restorations in 1740 and an addition in 1872. The church features painted rendered walls on projecting plinth stones, with slate rubble additions, all beneath graduated greenslate roofs. It has a three-bay nave with an open bellcote at the west end and a slightly higher apse from 1872, along with a south vestry. The entrance has a 20th-century studded plank door, and there are 20th-century two-light casement windows set within plain reveals. The west window has three lancets, while the vestry and apse contain narrow round-headed windows. Inside, the church boasts an open timber roof supported by 17th-century trusses. The west window features stained glass from 1888, with additional stained glass in the apse created by Henry Holiday in 1892 and Hugh Arnold in 1906. The furnishings and fittings date from the late 19th century.
