Description

Ghyll Head Cottage and The Homestead are two houses, dated 1749 as indicated by a datestone, with later additions. The houses are constructed of roughcast stone with a slate roof. They are two storeys high and consist of three bays, the first bay forming Ghyll Head Cottage. The windows are casement windows; the ground floor window of the second bay has a fire window to the left, and the first floor window of the first bay is a sash window with glazing bars and an opening pane. Entrances are located in the first bay and between the second and third bays. A datestone is also situated in the second bay. Gable-end stacks are present, with the right-hand stack projecting and featuring offsets, and a cross-axial stack with a round shaft. The rear of the building features a gabled wing with a gable-end stack and a stair wing to the left, which has a catslide roof.
