Description

Broadleys Cottage is a house dating from 1898 to 1900, designed by C.F.A. Voysey. The exterior is roughcast with a hipped slate roof, and one stack is of coursed slate. It is a one-story building with an attic, arranged over three bays. The building features wide eaves and raking buttresses. The windows are casements with leaded glazing containing rectangular quarries; the ground floor windows are arranged as 2, 4, and 3 lights. A large gabled dormer sits over the centre bay, containing a 4-light window. The main entrance, in the second bay, has a plain door with an original handle decorated with heart motifs. A similar door is on the right-hand return. There are two cross-axial stacks, the one on the right being slate. The rear elevation has a gabled central bay. Windows on the rear include a 3-light window to the first bay, 2-light windows to the ground floor of the second bay, a single light to the right, possibly a stair window, and a later, smaller window inserted to the left of the first-floor window. The left-hand return has a 4-light window. The interior remains uninspected.
