Description

Low House Farmhouse is a house that has been divided into two sections. The L-shaped west wing dates from the late 17th century and has undergone later alterations, while the east wing is dated 1767, as indicated by a plaque above the doorway. The building features roughcast rendered walls and a green slate roof with end chimneys. The east wing includes stone copings and a kneeler on the right-hand gable, along with a heavy timber cornice gutter with modillions. It stands two storeys plus an attic.

The older part of the house showcases a variety of windows, including one with heavy timber mullions, although several similar windows are now blocked from the inside. The east wing features an 8-panelled door with a traceried semi-circular fanlight above it, and to the left is a 18th-century sash window with glazing bars. There are two similar sash windows on the first floor and in the wing that is at right angles. A stair window with a semi-circular traceried head is located at the rear.

Inside the west wing, there is a spiral staircase with an octagonal oak newel and solid oak steps, along with old flooring and the upper part of a plaster fire hood in the attic. The east wing contains an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters and 18th-century panelling.
