3/4 Low House Farmhouse

House, now divided into two. L-shaped west wing late Cl7 with later alterations. East wing dated 1767 on plaque above doorway. Roughcast rendered walls, green slate roof with end chimneys. East wing has stone copings and kneeler to right hand gable and heavy timber modillioned cornice gutter. 2 storeys plus attic. Older part has variety of windows including one with heavy timber mullions. (Several similar windows can be seen from the inside but are now blocked up). East wing has 8-panelled door with traceried semi-circular fanlight above and C18 sash window with glazing bars to left. 2 similar sash windows to first floor and in wing at right angles. Stair window with semi-circular traceried head at rear. Interior of west wing has spiral staircase with octagonal oak newel and solid oak steps, old flooring and the upper part of the plaster fire hood in the attic. The East wing has an C18 staircase with turned balusters and C18 panelling. See also RCHM p.108.
