Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse, significantly altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble, rendered and with a slate roof, featuring overhanging eaves with exposed rafters. A stone stack projects from the left gable end, and a large rendered stack is on the facade to the right of the entrance. The original layout comprised three main rooms and a cross passage, with a single-bay addition to the left, a stair turret to the rear, and an outshut at the rear right.

The two-storey, three-bay facade has 19th-century windows, mostly 2, 3, and 4-light casements. The end bay to the left is unlit. A projecting slate roofed porch extends to the right, with an arched opening and double half-glazed doors featuring 19th-century figured glass. A ground-floor window on the right return gable end, presumably replacing a stack, is fronted by a single-storey wooden verandah.

Inside, few original features remain, although there are chamfered spine beams with step and runout stops to the left of the cross passage, a chamfered lintel above the lateral stack, a stud and plaster partition on the first floor, and a truncated jointed cruck in another first-floor partition. The outbuilding at the rear is believed to have been the original farmhouse.
