Description
This is a courtyard range of farm buildings located approximately 15 meters north of Killington Farm, built in 1873 as indicated by a datestone. The structure is made of unrendered stone rubble with brick dressings and features slate roofs with gable ends.
The layout consists of a four-sided courtyard, with a barn and granary loft at the rear. To the left side, there is a cart entrance, while lofted shippons and stables form the gable-ended wings on either side. Single-storey piggeries and a loose-box are positioned on each side of the narrow gated front entrance.
The barn includes external stone steps leading to a loft plank door topped with a gabled slate roof. A slate date plaque is positioned to the left, marking the year 1873. The cart entrance features a slightly cambered brick arch with double plank doors. The shippons and stables also have plank doors with slightly cambered brick arches, and loft doors above. The piggery retains its original fittings, including feeding doors in the outer wall.
Overall, the courtyard range is remarkably unspoilt, retaining its cobbled yard, and is situated in a prominent position by the roadside.
