Description

This building is a possible former miners' lodging house located approximately 20 meters northeast of Heasley Cottage. It is likely from the early 19th century, with some alterations and partial collapse occurring in the mid to late 20th century. The structure is made of uncoursed stone rubble and features a gable-ended scantle-slate roof.

The building is unusual, reputed to have originally been a row of seven miners' lodgings, divided into seven small rooms on each floor. The roof has been truncated at both ends, and the left-hand end rooms are now roofless. There is a possibility that the building served another purpose, such as stabling or storage. It has two storeys.

The exterior showcases a seven-bay front with boarded doorways on both the ground and first floors, some of which are two-leaf doors, all set in continuous vertical openings. The first and fifth openings from the right have been blocked.

Inside, each room is divided by stud partitions on a stone plinth. Given the significant mining activity around Heasley Mill in the 19th century, if this building was not a miners' lodging house, it may have had a specialized function related to mining. It is situated directly opposite Heasley Mill.
