Description
The south gateway and gates to the churchyard of the Church of St Mary in Lynton date from around 1900. The structure features stone piers topped with a low-pitched hipped slated roof that has a deep overhanging flat soffit. A pair of wooden plank gates rests on a single stone step, showcasing a bold scrolled top rail and an open panel with diagonal vertical balusters above a dentil mould. Similar gates can be found at the south porch of the Church of St Mary and at the west entrance to the church, all of which reflect the design principles of the Arts and Crafts movement.
