Description

This early 19th-century boundary wall, railings, gate piers, and gate are located to the east of St Vincent, on Market Street, Lynton. The low rubble wall spans the width of the site and is topped with a low cast-iron railing featuring spearhead tops and a saddleback coping. A central pair of square dressed stone piers, set on plinths and capped with pyramids and ball finials, frame a simple gate constructed of wrought-iron with dog-bars. A square rubble pier with a pyramid capping marks the left-hand end, with the wall returning to the front of the building. The wall meets a high retaining wall at the opposite end. The features are included on the heritage list for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding area.
