Description

The Old Rectory is a circa 1838 rectory, now a private house. It is constructed of coarse render, grooved to resemble ashlar, with projecting pilaster quoins, an unmoulded plinth, and a hipped slate roof with brick stacks. The main house is double-pile and has a service wing to the rear. The front of the building is two storeys high and features three bays. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while those on the ground floor are 5 x 4-pane sashes. A central 6-panel double door sits within a recessed arched surround, topped with a fanlight. The left return now serves as the entrance front, also with a recessed arched surround, fanlight, and 6-panel double doors. A brass handle is present, and a fire token from the Sun Insurance Company is located above the door. A lower, one and a half bay service wing adjoins the left side. The building ceased to function as a rectory in 1919.
