Description

The Pyke chest tomb with grate, located approximately 3 metres north of the north side of the nave of the Church of St. Petrocks in Parracombe, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features an iron grate with fleur-de-lys finials on the uprights. The chest tomb has a moulded base and a shaped top, with two panels on each side that bear inscriptions, which are flanked by short cusped headed pilasters. Additionally, there is a carved heraldic shield at the western end.
