Description
This is a group of four chest tombs located approximately 15 metres south-west of the west tower of the Church of St. Petrocks in Parracombe. They date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are set on brick plinths topped with slate slabs. One tomb commemorates Grace Parminter Lock, who died in 1851, and her family. Another tomb belongs to Richard Dovell, who died in 1793, and his family, crafted by Watts. This tomb features urns at the head, flanking a figure of an angel blowing a trumpet. Additionally, there are tombs for Robert Partridge, who died in 1838, and his family, as well as for Jane Dovell, who died in 1834, and William Dovell, who died in 1835, both designed by Nichols with a similar design to the heads.
