Description
Ranscombe Farmhouse and barn adjoining is an early 19th-century farmhouse. The farmhouse is constructed of red sandstone rubble, with an asbestos slate roof featuring decorative ridge tiles. It has rendered stacks at the right gable end of a lower service wing, at the right gable end of the main block, and rising from the eaves on the wing at the rear. The building follows a 'T' plan, with the main block having an outshot, a service wing to the left, and a barn attached to the rear wing, with its gable end facing the road.
The farmhouse has two storeys and a 3:2 bay arrangement. The left-hand end bay is unlit. Twenty-pane sash windows are located on the first floor to the left, while the ground floor has 25-pane sash windows below a central entrance. More recent 20th-century windows are present on the first floor to the right, and a 20th-century door replaces the original in the left bay. The original 6-panel door with a pentice porch remains. The left return fronting the road includes 20th-century fenestration, and the rear wing has a barn abutting it, which is rendered and has double doors. The interior was not inspected during the listing assessment.
