Description

This is a late 18th-century farm, extended in the 19th century, comprising a farmhouse (Town Farm) and an adjoining cottage (Heathcot), with a barn and older outbuilding. The building is constructed of granite rubble with a gabled slate roof, and has two axial stacks, one central to Town Farm and another between Heathcot and its barn. Town Farm has a two-room plan with a central axial stack that creates back-to-back fireplaces and a lobby entrance. Heathcot, added in the 19th century, has a smaller two-room plan with the larger heated room to the right. A barn was presumably added later in the 19th century.

The symmetrical front of Town Farm features a late 19th-century arrangement of three windows with four-pane sashes. A hipped-roof stone porch with an open front is centrally positioned and may be original. A 19th-century one-panelled door sits behind the porch. Attached at the left-hand end is a lower outbuilding, seemingly dating back to the 14th century, which faces the rear. Heathcot has a single-window front with 20th-century top-opening casements and a hipped-roof porch to the left. The barn, attached to the right, has a central first-floor loading hatch. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original joinery.
