Description

The vestry and storeroom located on the perimeter of St Peter's churchyard, about 14 metres west of the church, dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with large, roughly-squared granite quoins and features a thatched roof that is three-quarter hipped at each end. A short, thick granite chimneystack sits on the ridge, offset to the right. The building has a two-room plan, with each room having its own front door and no inter-connecting doorway, and is a single storey in height.

The front wall does not have any windows and instead has two old plank doors set in beaded wood frames. The left-hand door retains its wooden latch but has been repaired with horizontal boarding at the bottom, while the right-hand door features wrought-iron strap-hinges and an old wooden handle. The rear wall includes a three-light wood casement window on the left, which has eight panes per light, and a small blocked window on the right.

Inside, the vestry on the left has an early 19th-century chimneypiece with a simple wood surround and a bracketed mantelshelf. This room was once used for a Sunday School. The right-hand room, which is unplastered and unceiled, appears to have always been a storeroom. The roof structure of the entire building has clean trusses, with principal rafters that have plain feet and collars pegged to their faces, and there are no common rafters, only thatching spars.
