Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres south-west of East Week Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th to early 17th century. The lower part of the walls is made of large blocks of coursed granite ashlar, while the upper section consists of granite stone rubble. The barn has a corrugated iron roof, which was originally thatch. It faces south-south-west and is built across a hillside, with the rear terraced into the slope. The front features a single doorway to the left of centre, which contains a 19th-century plank door, and there was originally a second doorway to the right of centre that is now blocked. There is a hayloft loading hatch at the rear, and the roof is gable-ended. Inside, the barn has a four-bay roof supported by original true cruck trusses with cambered collars. East Week is a scattered hamlet that includes several other attractive listed buildings.
