Description

Spring Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, built using a wall from the 16th or 17th century. It features granite stone rubble with large, roughly-dressed quoins, a granite stack with a granite ashlar chimney shaft, and a slate roof that was previously thatched. The cottage has a small one-room plan and is situated down a hillslope, facing southeast. It has a gable-end stack located on the downhill left end. The right gable-end wall is actually the end wall of a former shippon that belonged to an adjoining longhouse, which has now been converted into Pumpy Cottage. The building is two storeys high and has 20th-century service outshots at the rear.

The exterior has a one-window front featuring 20th-century casements with glazing bars. To the right, there is a wide doorway that contains a 20th-century plank door set in an earlier solid frame, which is sheltered by a stone rubble porch. The roof is gable-ended. The interior has not been inspected. Spring Cottage is located in East Week, a hamlet that includes several other attractive listed buildings.
