Description
The building is a shippon, now used as a general outhouse, located about 10 metres south of Higher Bonehill Farmhouse. It is probably from the 17th century or earlier and features a lean-to addition on the south side. The structure is made of granite rubble and has a half-hipped roof covered with corrugated iron. It is one storey with a loft, while the lean-to is single-storeyed.
The west gable wall, which faces into the hamlet, has a door on the left and a small window on the right, with a drain outlet between them and a ventilation slit at the top of the wall. There is a similar ventilation slit in the east gable wall. The north wall, which faces the house, has an old plank door with wrought-iron strap hinges. In the south wall, which is blocked by the lean-to, there is a ventilation slit. The lean-to was likely originally open-fronted, but the west end is now filled with corrugated iron. The interior has not been fully inspected, but the loft floor timbers appear to be quite old.
