Description

Hannaford Manor is a house dated 1904. It is constructed from squared granite rubble with a hipped slate roof, featuring lead rolls to the ridge and hips. Tall granite chimneys are placed asymmetrically. The house follows a double-depth plan, incorporating an open hall. It is two storeys high and designed in a Tudor style, with gabled projections and stone-mullioned windows, some of which have hood-moulds.

The garden front features a two-storey gabled porch positioned to the right of centre, with an off-set stack on its right side and a large stone-mullioned hall window to the left. A gabled projection is located at the left-hand end. The porch doorway is moulded with a flat head and hood-mould, and the date 1904 is carved into the left side of the south-east entrance porch.

Inside, the house contains a narrow open hall with Tudor-style panelling on the south-east side. A service wing, built in a similar style, extends to the south-west. The house was originally occupied by the Bolitho family. It has been suggested that the architect was E L Lutyens, but this is unconfirmed.
