Description
The Mill Cottage is a house that was originally the miller's residence, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features stone rubble walls with brick dressings and a half-hipped slate roof, along with two brick end stacks. The building has a rectangular double-depth plan, with the main heated rooms located at the front; the right-hand rooms are larger, while smaller service rooms are at the rear. A central entrance hall leads to stairs at the back, which are slightly projected.
The cottage is two storeys high and has an almost symmetrical two-window front, with a blocked or blind window at the center on the first floor. It retains original two-light casements with small panes and H-L hinges, and a three-light casement to the right on the ground floor. The doorway, which is slightly to the left of center, features a gabled door hood and a 19th-century plank door. All openings are adorned with brick arches. Notably, the blocking of the first-floor window includes a grotesque carved stone face, which may have originated from the nearby church. At the rear, there is a shallow rectangular stair projection at the center. The interior has not been inspected.
