Description

The Meavy War Memorial, built in 1920, is a granite structure designed in the form of a headstone. It features roughly-hewn granite and metal lettering. On the eastern face, beneath the dates of the First and Second World War, there is an inscription that reads, "All ye who pass this way remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in the Great Wars." This is followed by the names, ranks, and regiments of those who died in the First World War. Additionally, the memorial includes the phrase, "Behold this stone, set up beneath an oak by the sanctuary of the Lord, shall be a witness. / Joshua XXIV.26.27. / 11 Nov. 1920."
