Description
The building is a shippon located about 400 metres west-southwest of Clampitt House, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and features a gable-ended roof covered with corrugated iron sheets. The shippon has a rectangular plan with a central doorway on the west front. The exterior is almost symmetrical, with the central doorway framed in chamfered wood and an unchamfered wooden lintel. Small windows with wooden lintels are positioned to the left and right of the doorway. Two cruck posts are visible on the front wall, and there is a left doorway in the south gable end.
Inside, a half doorway has been removed, but two cross-beams remain, one of which is roughly chamfered. The roof consists of three bays with two intact cruck trusses; the northern truss is a raised cruck truss with its tenoned collar removed, while the southern truss is a side-pegged jointed cruck truss with a tenoned collar. The purlins and common rafters are missing.
