Description
The walls to the walled garden located to the north-east of the Old Rectory were built in 1819 for the Reverend Carrington, who was the Rector of Bridford from 1815 to 1842. The walls are constructed of stone rubble with granite capping. They are tall, with the south-east wall being reduced in height. There is a Gothic style arched doorway on the south-west side leading into the garden, which features a datestone above it. The Reverend Carrington also remodeled the Rectory and wrote "Parochiales Bridfordii," which includes a reference to the construction of the walled garden. These walls have group value with the Old Rectory.
