Description
This is a water trough located on the north-east side of the road, set into the boundary wall of a former school, approximately 30 meters south-east of Southbrook Farmhouse. The trough likely dates from the 19th century and is made from granite. It is a large rectangular structure carved from a single piece of granite. Water flows into the trough from a stream that emerges through a segmental-headed opening in the boundary wall. The water then spills out of the trough into a small pool, which is surrounded by large granite stones, before draining away along a roadside gutter to the south-east.
