Description
Fice's Well and Cross is a holy well and adjoining cross located in Okehampton Hamlets, dating back to the medieval period. The well features rubble walls and has recently been covered with rough granite slabs. The cross, originally taller, is now a short Greek cross made of roughly hewn granite, with an inscribed Greek Cross on its front face. According to tradition, the cross was brought to the well from the medieval chapel of St. Michael at the nearby Halstock, which is believed to have disappeared as early as the 15th or 16th century.
