Description
Hornets Castle is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, featuring a lean-to addition on the south-west side. It is constructed of granite rubble and has a hipped, thatched roof, while the lean-to has a slated roof. A large granite chimneystack is located against the north-east wall. The original house is designed with one room width and two rooms depth, and it stands two storeys tall. Each gable wall has two pointed-arched windows, one on each storey, with well-cut voussoirs and 19th-century wood casements. The south-east end of the lean-to includes a 20th-century door to the right and a two-light wood-mullioned window to the left. Above this, on the second storey, there is a blocked window with a pointed arch, similar to those found in the main house.
