Description

Lower Cator Farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, is a building that was originally a farmhouse, but the right-hand end is now a separate house. It is constructed of granite rubble, with roughcast rendering on the left-hand side. The roof is slate-covered, and the house features paired chimneystacks in the centre of the ridge and on each gable, with a fifth stack situated just behind the rubble at the right-hand end. Each section of the house has a two-room plan and a central doorway. There is a rear wing on the right-hand side. The front facade has five windows, which are casements with glazing bars. The right-hand section has a pent-roofed entrance porch, while the left-hand section has a glazed lean-to on the left. Inside, few features are visible on the ground floor. The right-hand section has gable fireplaces with plain granite lintels.
