Description
The churchyard cross, located approximately 17 metres south-west of the Church of St. Winifrid in Manaton, is probably of medieval origin. It is a granite monolith roughly shaped like a short-armed Latin cross, although one arm is missing. Both sides of the cross are inscribed with a crudely cut Greek cross. It stands on a later square plinth that has a double chamfered edge. The original cross was reportedly destroyed by a rector in the 19th century, and the current cross was found nearby and erected under the belief that it belonged in this location.
