Description
This is a barn located about 430 metres west-southwest of Clampitt House, likely dating from the 16th or 17th century, with extensions made in the 18th or 19th century. The barn is constructed from granite rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends. It has a four-bay plan with opposing doorways at the center, and the south end was extended in the 18th or 19th century, which includes a 19th-century outshut and a privy at the rear (west) of this extension.
The barn is a single-storey structure, with the right-hand part being the original barn. There are large cart entrances to the left and right of the center, both with plank double doors. At the rear (west), there is a small doorway to the left with one retaining shouldered wooden jamb, and an outshut with a lean-to roof on the right, along with a lean-to privy in the angle.
Inside, there are remains of two threshing floors. The original north end features three side-pegged jointed cruck trusses, although the blades have been removed. The east part of the north truss rises from a padstone at ground level. The walls have been raised and now support a 20th-century roof structure.
