Description
The Brentor War Memorial is a granite structure located at the road junction in the center of North Brentor, directly facing Christ Church, which is approximately 120 meters to the south-east. The memorial features a slim Latin cross with a hexagonal section, rising from a small pedestal. This pedestal is set on a deep, two-stepped base, with each step having a narrow cornice designed for laying wreaths and floral tributes.
The main dedicatory inscription is found on a cast bronze plaque on the south-east facing side of the pedestal. It reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ & IN UNDYING MEMORY OF/ BRAVE MEN WHO GAVE/ THEIR LIVES FOR US/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918." The names of those commemorated from the First World War are listed on similar plaques on either side of the pedestal, while the name from the later Second World War is recorded in applied metal lettering on the north-west face.
Additionally, a small timber bench is positioned against the south-east side of the memorial.
