Description

The gates, gate-piers, railings, boundary wall, and conduit head located on the north side of the churchyard date from various periods. The gates date to around 1700, while the gate-piers were added in 1932. The railings are likely from the mid-19th century, and the boundary wall is from the 18th century or earlier. The conduit head is also probably from the mid-19th century.

The iron gates are a fine pair, featuring a matching overthrow that carries the town arms and is adorned with scrollwork and foliage; they were restored in 1932. The gate-piers are made of square granite ashlar and topped with balls. The railings to the west have moulded iron shafts and finials that are decorated with three-leaved flowers. The boundary wall to the east is constructed of stone rubble, topped with heavily weathered, chamfered granite blocks. At the western end, there is a former water conduit head, which has had its tap removed, featuring jambs and a pointed arch made of red brick.
