Description

The launder on piers located at the rear of Nos 6-9 (consecutive) and Higher Mill in Buckfastleigh is likely from the 19th century. It consists of a timber launder supported by yellow brick piers. This launder carries water along the back of the former woollen mill and features a sluice gate at the junction between two industrial blocks. The launder is truncated at the west end, where it crosses the leat at right angles to the mill. Tall, paired yellow brick piers support iron girders that run at right angles and carry the launder.
