Description
The Andrew Hoskins monument is a chest tomb located approximately 18 metres north of the north porch in the Abbey Churchyard of Tewkesbury. This early 18th-century tomb is made of limestone and features a flat ledger with cavetto edges, set to lyre ends and decorative panel sides, resting on a moulded base and a small platform. The eastern lyre end has an oval panel, while the long sides include a recessed central panel flanked by deep carved drapes. The inscription on the tomb commemorates Andrew, son of Charles Hoskins, gent, and Mary his wife, who died in 1715 at the age of 25. This monument is a notable example of a type commonly found in Cotswold churchyards.
