Description
This is a chest tomb dedicated to Sarah Howsen, located in the churchyard approximately 2 meters west of the Church of St. Lawrence. It dates from 1728 and is made of limestone. The west end features a lyre shape with three winged cherub's heads, while the east end has an oval cartouche. The sides of the tomb are currently detached; the side beneath the top has a swag inscription panel flanked by poppy and cross-bone trophies, and the side leaning to the north has a bolection moulded rectangular inscription panel with bow drops on either side. The top has a cavetto moulding, and the base is not visible as of March 1985. The inscription on the side beneath the top commemorates Sarah, the wife of John Howsen, who died in 1728.
