Description

The monument to John Heywood is a chest tomb located in the churchyard approximately 0.5 meters northeast of the Dyer monument and to the south of the south porch of the Church of St Lawrence. It dates from 1736 and is made of limestone. The tomb is tall and rectangular, featuring gadrooned corner balusters and a cartouche in the rectangular recessed end panels. It has raised moulding on the large rectangular side inscription panels, a cyma moulded top, and a cavetto moulded base. The north side is inscribed with the name John Heywood, who died in 1736.
