Description
The monument to Thomas Heywood is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 3 meters northeast of the Dyer monument and south of the south porch of the Church of St Lawrence. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre ends with a cartouche at each end, a winged hour-glass on the west side, and a head on the east side. The sides have recessed moulded rectangular inscription panels that are flanked by moulded panels containing poppy drops. The top of the tomb is cyma moulded, while the base is not visible. The south side is inscribed with the name Thomas Heywood, although the date is illegible.
