Description

37 and 38 Lower Street are early to mid 18th century buildings constructed from hammer-dressed rubble, featuring a modern pitched roof. They stand two storeys high with an attic. Number 37 has one mullioned window on the first floor and a double-hung sash window with glazing bars in a moulded wooden frame on the ground floor. It also has a six-panelled door topped with a flat hood supported by elaborate consoles. Number 38, which is also two storeys tall, includes one casement window with glazing bars, two segment-headed planked doors, and one mullioned window with a hood-mould at the rear. Together, numbers 36 to 38 and number 40 form a group.
