Description
The monument to John Howsen is a chest tomb located approximately 2 meters southwest of the Church of St. Lawrence in Longney Village. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features lyre ends with oval panels, a winged death's head on the east side, and a winged cherub's head on the west side. The sides have moulded rectangular inscription panels, with fronds on the south side and floral bow drops on the north side. The top of the tomb is cavetto moulded, and the base is cyma moulded. The north side is inscribed with the name John Howsen, who died in the 18th century.
