Description
The Dyer Monument is an early 18th-century chest tomb located approximately 6 meters south of the south porch of the Church of St. Lawrence in Longney Village. It is made of limestone and features lyre ends with cartouches on both ends. A death's head is depicted on the east side, while a head is shown on the west side. The south side has an ovolo moulded recessed rectangular inscription panel flanked by scrolls, and there is a large cartouche on the north side. The top of the tomb is cyma moulded, and the base is not visible as of March 1985. The north side is inscribed in memory of Elizabeth, the wife of Thomas Dyer, although the date is illegible.
