Description
Spring Cottage is a detached house dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Constructed of limestone ashlar to the front facade, with coursed and squared rubble to the other elevations, it has a stone slate roof, except for a concrete tile roof on the outshut at the rear. The two-storey and attic cottage has three windows, featuring 12-pane sashes with slightly over-square panes, and a central glazed door set within a 20th-century gabled porch. A 2-light casement window is visible in the attic of the left return, while the rear has a 2-light dormer window above a large lean-to extension. A small gable stack is located on the left side, and a larger external stack is situated on the right gable. The cottage is a mirror image of Painswick Mill Cottage, and was likely built to house staff associated with the nearby mill.
