Description
The Hucclecote Memorial Cross is a war memorial set back from the road on a raised gravel area. It consists of a rough-hewn granite cross mounted on a large plinth, which is elevated on a two-stepped base. The recessed sides of the plinth feature inscriptions and names. The front face displays the inscription: "THIS CROSS IS ERECTED/ IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO FROM THIS PARISH/ GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918."
In front of the lowest step, there is a sloping stone tablet added after the Second World War. This tablet bears the inscription: "ALSO TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY/ OF THE FOLLOWING WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR/ 1939-1945/ (NAMES)/ AND THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES/ IN THIS PARISH THROUGH ENEMY ACTION (NAMES)."
The memorial is enclosed by posts carrying a chain that surrounds the raised area it occupies.
