Description
Forge House is a cottage that dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of partly timber box frame with large panels and partly brick, both of which are painted white. The original pantile roof has been replaced with late 20th-century pantiles, and there is a dormer with a catslide roof.
The structure is a single-depth range with a gable-end bay that has been rebuilt in brick facing the street. At the rear, there is an outshut with a catslide roof. The cottage is single storey with an attic. The front displays exposed timber framing with brick nogging on the right and brick on the left, complemented by a buttress on the gable wall. To the left of center, there is a 19th-century decorative wrought-iron open gabled porch. Flanking the porch are two two-light casement windows, and there is a dormer window to the right in the roof. In the end gable wall facing the street, there is a two-light casement window on the ground floor and a similar casement in the gable above. The interior has not been inspected.
