Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located about 11 metres south of the Biggs memorial in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. The tomb dates from 1735 and is made of sandstone. It features a flat top with a cyma moulded capping and decorated lyre ends. The plinth is not visible. The oval end panels are adorned with carved linear foliage surrounds. On the south side, there is an inscription within a rectangular panel that has a spiral linear surround, flanked by panels depicting weeping palms and primitive male and female heads. At the time of the survey on June 11, 1984, the tomb was sinking to the northwest.
