Description
Bicknor Court is a house dating from the late 16th century, with significant alterations in the mid-to-late 18th century. It is a complex L-shaped range with a further extension to the right, set over a cellar or basement and extending to three storeys. The construction is of coursed and dressed rubble stone, topped with a tiled hipped roof and featuring two projecting stone stacks at each end. The front facade has five windows, which are glazing bar sashes with stone lintels and keystones. A central panelled door is set within a pedimented door case supported by consoles, and featuring a dropped triple keystone. Two stone steps lead up to the door. The right return features two stone mullioned windows and a projecting, two-storey porch with a blocked doorway and arched stone window above. The rear facade includes a projecting, gabled wing in an L-shape, displaying triple-light arched windows on each floor, with stone mullions on the ground floor. The main range on the rear has a large arched window with Gothic tracery on the first floor. The house was formerly the home of the Wyrhall family, who were hereditary foresters.
